About Bellingen

We are blessed to live in one of the most diverse and incredible places in Australia. The Mid North Coast is known for having the most liveable climate in Australia (CSIRO) and is renowned for its areas of astounding natural beauty.  From the coastal beach towns of Urunga & Repton, right through to the plateau of the Dorrigo ranges there is a place just waiting for you to call home.

Moving to Bellingen is a lifestyle choice. Our village has a rich cultural diversity, with  many community initiatives showcasing the local arts, music and local food producers. The monthly Bellingen Markets attract people from the region over, and further afield, while the local Bellopy Markets, Growers Market & Free Markets, all provide opportunities to purchase locally grown & produced food.  If you cannot find what you need there, you can stroll through the Community Garden to select your produce straight from the ground, or have it delivered to your door by the Bello Food Box.

Many restaurants and cafes take advantage of the plethora of local produce to secure award winning results.  You can choose from the casual ambience of Number 5 Church Street, the family oriented Federal Hotel or the hatted opulence of No 2 Oak St. Boasting 27 different cafes and restaurants, you can literally eat your way around town!

You can take advantage of the close proximity of World Heritage Rainforests and walking trails once you have indulged your food passions, or spend a day or weekend wandering one of the many festivals that occur throughout the year. Bellingen Jazz Festival & Dorrigo Bluegrass Festival attract musicians from around the globe, while The Bellingen Show,The River Festival & Local Made showcase some of our most brilliant local talent.

Camp Creative, Bellingen Writer and Readers Festival & The Bellingen Art Prize also draw large numbers of artistically spirited people to our region, eager to share our beautiful natural surrounds as sources of inspiration.

We highly regard our intellectual community, supporting their endeavors by hosting events such as TedX Bellingen, as well as providing forum spaces such as the Environment Centre, Bellingenuity, and the Memorial Hall as host to a range of events.  These adult ventures play mentor for a host of youth activities, including the Youth Hub, Bellingen EYE & Youth Leading the World
